LPG Is a mixture of hydrocarbons, consisting mainly of propane, propene (propylene) and butane
- A simplified propane supply chain would include:
- Production and Transportation
- Bulk Plants and Customer Delivery (cylinder filling plants, bulk storage plants, and large industrial customers)
- End-User Customers (final consumers)
- Propane is delivered from terminals to distributors and re-sellers via truck, railcar, ship or barge, and sometimes by pipeline, especially on the East Coast and
Mid-West. - Since propane is an odorless gas, when it’s transferred from storage vessels to the loading dock an odorant is injected (Methyl Mercaptan) to detect leaks or spills.
- LPG and anhydrous ammonia tank cars are sealed pressure containers. Several fittings are mounted on the manway cover plate to facilitate loading, unloading, gauging and testing operations.

NFPA 58 – Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code

These are the best retrofit safety gates that I have ever seen. The experience with SafeRack was helpful and easy and the product is of very good quality and easy to install. Chris Hite was very responsive and kept us informed of delivery date. As for the gates, these are the best retrofit safety gates that I have seen. The thought process to make them fit virtually any application is excellent. I like the bright yellow color and the versatility of which way the opened; the ease of setting tension. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again in the future. The flanged swivel connection went over big with the guys out in the plant. They no longer have to man handle the heavy hoses, and can swivel them around all day and not complain. You can't put a price on that. This item definitely will help prevent injuries, such as pulls and strains. It will also help tremendously reduce fatigue, making the process more efficient. When we are on the clock to get ships and barges loaded and unloaded, every minute saved can mean a financial windfall for the customer.
Dana and Molly could not have been more professional and pleasant to deal with. I had to return the original order due to my mistake and they bent over backwards to make sure I had everything I needed to make the order go through smoothly. They also got the correct items headed my way as soon as we realized I made a mistake on the original order.
