ProStep Rolling Ladders

Built to work where other rolling ladders can’t

ProStep ultra-compact aluminum rolling ladders have a compact footprint and tight turning radius, opening up the spaces conventional rolling ladders can’t reach – built for warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing, and MRO. They pair the industry’s largest published platform with an integrated handle that lifts the pivoting casters and locks the rubber-footed base – rolling to rock-solid in one motion.

  • Compact. Maneuverable. Unstoppable.
Tight turning radius and compact footprint reach aisles, corners, and equipment other rolling ladders can’t.
  • More Room to Work
Large platforms and cantilever options extend reach over equipment and obstructions.
  • Rock-Solid Stability
Engage the handle — casters lift, rubber-footed base locks, platform stays put.
  • OSHA + ANSI Compliant
Built to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.23(e) and ANSI A14.7 — the standards your facility is audited against.
  • Cost-Effective at Scale
In stock and fleet-priced — deploy across every aisle, bay, line, and MRO area.
  • Made in the USA
Engineered, manufactured, and supported domestically — shorter lead times, accountable quality.

The Ultra-Compact Rolling Ladder with the World’s Tightest Turning Radius
Compact footprint & tight turning radius

With a tight turning radius and compact footprint, access equipment, corners, and aisles that other rolling ladders can’t reach. Warehouse floor plans are aisle-constrained; conventional rolling ladders are built for wide-aisle forklift lanes and cannot physically maneuver in tighter classes.

Lift-and-Lock

The integrated handle lifts the pivoting casters and locks the rubber-footed base — rolling the ladder from rock-solid to rock-solid in one motion. The unit is secured to the floor by the base, not by locking casters. While the casters are lowered, making the unit mobile, the handle safely prevents the unit from being climbed.

INDUSTRY’S LARGEST WORK PLATFORM

Choose 6 or 9 sq. ft. of standard workspace, then add a 1′ or 2′ cantilever kit to expand the platform up to 15 sq. ft. and reach over equipment and obstructions.

Reach over what’s in the way

ProStep with 2ft-catilever option

An optional 1′ or 2′ cantilever extension spans obstructions and reaches over equipment, conveyor lines, or curved surfaces without compromising guardrail protection. Bolt-on and field-installable — reach over an obstruction from an aisle-friendly base position rather than repositioning a larger unit that can’t fit the aisle in the first place.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ProStep?

ProStep is an ultra-duty aluminum rolling ladder built for tight aisles. Nine platform heights are offered — PS-40 through PS-120, in 10-inch increments from 40 in. to 120 in. — with 2-ft or 3-ft platform widths and a bolt-on cantilever kit for reaching over obstructions. The system replaces the RFQ-only mobile platforms that warehouses and data centers have historically had to custom-order for tight-aisle work..

Are wheels on the ground when ProStep is locked in position?

No. When the Lift-and-Lock handle is engaged, the casters lift roughly two inches off the floor and the rubber-footed base plants on the ground. The ladder is fully supported by the base, not the wheels, while a worker is on the platform. About 30 pounds of pull on the handle releases the largest unit for repositioning.

Do the casters on the opposite side have a lock?

No. A caster lock is not required because the Lift-and-Lock base creates enough friction with its rubber pads that the unit stays planted under load. The friction pads carry the operator’s weight, not the casters.

Is ProStep a four-wheel rolling ladder?

Yes. ProStep is a four-caster rolling ladder with the Lift-and-Lock base. The design lets one person move a large unit without lifting an end of it — the older two-wheel tilt-and-roll pattern limited how large a rolling ladder could practically be.

Are cantilever kits stocked as SKUs?

Yes. Cantilever kits (1-ft and 2-ft extensions) load into quote books alongside the base units and ship with published SKUs. Kits are field-installable and bolt onto the platform without welding.

What is the rated working load?

Every ProStep model is rated for 1,000 lb, covering the operator plus tools and materials. The rating is consistent across all nine heights and both platform widths.

What are the platform sizes?

Two options: 6 sq ft (2-ft platform width) or 9 sq ft (3-ft platform width). Both widths are available across all nine heights.

What is the turning radius on each ProStep model?

The 360-degree turning radius is measured with the unit fully assembled and rolling on all four casters. See chart: https://prostepaccess.com/specifications#specs.

Which ProStep models fit very narrow aisles (VNA), narrow aisles, and wide aisles?

Very narrow aisle (5–6 ft): PS-40 fits. PS-50 fits in most 6-ft aisles.
Narrow aisle (8–10 ft): PS-40 through PS-90 fit. PS-100 and PS-110 fit tighter narrow aisles with clearance planning.
Wide aisle (11–13 ft and up): All nine models fit.
Verify aisle width against the model’s 360° turning radius before ordering.

Is ProStep OSHA compliant?

ProStep is engineered to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.23(e) for mobile ladder stands and platforms and to ANSI A14.7. Compliance documentation is available from your Regional Account Manager for engineering review or specification packages.

Is ProStep made in the USA?

Yes. ProStep is manufactured in the USA at the SixAxis facility in South Carolina.

What material is ProStep made from?

ProStep is bolt-together aluminum. The frame, platform, steps, and cantilever kits are all aluminum for corrosion resistance and lighter deadweight than similar steel units.

How is ProStep shipped and assembled?

ProStep ships flat-packed and bolts together in the field. Standard hand tools complete the assembly. Cantilever kits attach to a fully assembled base without disassembling the ladder.

Can ProStep be reconfigured after installation?

Yes. Bolt-together construction lets a facility swap a cantilever kit, change platform width, or replace individual components without discarding the ladder. Field-replaceable parts are stocked.

What is the lead time?

Standard configurations ship from stock from our facility in Andrews, SC. Cantilever kits and any nonstandard requirements route through your Regional Account Manager for confirmation. Contact your Regional Account Manager for current lead times on your configuration.

How do I buy ProStep?

ProStep is sold through SafeRack’s regional sales team. A Regional Account Manager will review your application, size the right solution for your aisle, and coordinate quoting, delivery, and installation support through the appropriate channel partner. Contact SafeRack at 843-485-0065 to get connected with the right representative for your location.

What is the cantilever kit used for?

The cantilever kit extends the working reach past the platform edge — 1 ft or 2 ft — so workers can access conveyors, racking, or equipment they cannot roll the ladder underneath. Kits bolt on and are field-installable.

Does ProStep have handrails, toeboards, and a fall-protection compliant top platform?

Yes. Every model ships with the guardrail system required for OSHA 29 CFR 1910.23(e) and ANSI A14.7 compliance, including handrails, midrails, and toeboards on the top platform.

What is the warranty?

Contact your Regional Account Manager for current warranty terms on ProStep units and cantilever kits.

Who do I contact for engineering documentation or a spec package?

Regional Account Managers hold current spec sheets, compliance documentation, and CAD files for the ProStep line. You may also obtain them directly from us. Reach the ProStep team at 843-485-0065 or through the contact form at prostepaccess.com.
