Modular Rooftop Platform System Improves Safe Access at Midwest Ethanol Plant.

At a Midwestern ethanol plant, maintenance crews needed a safer way to reach rooftop equipment without walking directly on soft, non-load-bearing sections of a newly installed roof. In winter, snow made safe walking paths even harder to identify, increasing the risk of worker injury, roof damage, and future leaks.

After reviewing the site conditions, the team installed a modular ErectaStep rooftop platform system using multiple 3′ x 3′ platforms with standard handrails. The elevated walkways created a defined path across the roof, allowing maintenance personnel to move more safely while protecting the roof system below.

The modular design also gave the customer a flexible solution that could be installed without on-roof welding, adjusted on-site to fit the structure, and expanded over time as access needs changed. The result was a safer, more stable rooftop access system that reduced risk to workers and helped preserve the integrity of the new roof.
