Hexane offload single spot rack with a SafeRack SAS (Self Adjusting Stair) Gangway and Safety Cage.
Operators bottom offload bulk hexane but still need access to the top of the truck to open the hatch for venting.
This is a single-spot rack with a Self-Adjusting Gangway and Cage System.
SafeRack also performed the installation during the customer’s scheduled shutdown, working alongside multiple contractors handling other scheduled replacements in this confined area.

What is Hexane?
Hexane, also known as Hexyl hydride, dipropyl, or n-hexane, is a clear, colorless liquid with a petroleum-like odor.
C6H14 is commonly used as an additive in gasoline, glue, inks, varnishes, and textile cleaning agents. Household products such as contact cement, spray adhesives, and stain removers also contain hexane.
In the United States, Hexane is a “tight-fill” (closed-loop) loading operation and is loaded/unloaded into railcars via carbon steel loading arms. If not handled properly, Hexane can cause serious injuries, making Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) mandatory. Additionally, because operators work on top of vehicles during loading, robust fall prevention is essential for operator safety and increased throughput.
Hexane is typically shipped in 10,000-gallon DOT-111 insulated or non-insulated general service tank cars equipped with safety valves or vents. The railcars themselves are ~9’ outside diameter with an overall length of ~45’ to 50’, featuring a 6’ x 6’ center opening or off-set crash box openings.
