Leaders in Kerosene & Jet Fuel Loading – Optimizing Safety, Reliability & Performance

Kerosene, also known as paraffin, is a combustible hydrocarbon liquid derived from petroleum. It is commonly used in aviation fuel loading arms, domestic heating, and as a solvent for industrial applications. Kerosene is less volatile than gasoline, with a flash point of 38°C (100°F) or higher, making it a relatively stable fuel for transport and storage.

With a boiling point between 150 and 300°C (300-575°F), kerosene is classified as a middle distillate of crude oil, similar to diesel fuel. It can be produced as straight-run kerosene, physically separated by distillation, or as cracked kerosene, created by breaking down heavier oil fractions at elevated temperatures.

SafeRack provides industry-leading jet fuel loading platforms and kerosene truck loading racks that ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance in fueling operations. Our safe jet fuel loading systems incorporate grounding systems for jet fuel loading, spill containment measures, and ergonomically designed equipment to streamline workflow and protect personnel.

Jet Fuel Loading Systems Designed for Safety, Reliability, and Operational Excellence

A typical jet fuel loading system includes multiple components designed to enhance safety and operational efficiency while meeting OSHA jet fuel loading requirements. SafeRack’s solutions are engineered to minimize risks and maximize throughput at fueling terminals.

  • Bottom Loading Arms – Our aviation fuel loading arms are available in top and bottom configurations, featuring API couplings, Viton seals, and carbon steel or aluminum construction for durability.
  • Grounding Systems – Proper grounding is critical for preventing static discharge and ensuring safe operations. SafeRack provides grounding systems for jet fuel loading that offer continuous electrical continuity through swivel joint bridge straps.
  • Safety Shower & Eye Wash Stations – Essential for OSHA jet fuel loading requirements, these stations provide immediate decontamination in case of exposure to kerosene or aviation fuel.
  • Spill Containment Measures – Designed to prevent environmental hazards, SafeRack’s containment systems help mitigate risks associated with jet fuel loading platforms.
  • Loading Arm Support Towers – Provides structural stability for aviation fuel-loading arms, ensuring efficient and safe fueling operations.
  • API Couplers & Swivel Joint Bridge Straps – Enhance flexibility and ease of use, providing secure and reliable connections between fueling equipment and transport vehicles.
  • Parking Latch & Sensor Integration – Improves safety by ensuring proper alignment and secure storage of loading arms when not in use.

FAQ

How do SafeRack’s gangways improve safety during energy product loading and unloading?

SafeRack’s self-adjusting gangways provide safe, OSHA-compliant access to tank trucks, railcars, and barges transporting crude oil, natural gas liquids, and refined fuels. Equipped with four-rail safety cages and available in powered options, our gangways minimize fall risks and ensure safe, efficient loading and unloading in high-volume energy operations.

Can SafeRack’s loading arms handle corrosive and flammable materials?

Yes. SafeRack’s carbon steel loading arms are built to safely transfer a wide range of energy products, including crude oil, LNG, and petrochemicals. With PTFE-sealed swivel joints for chemical resistance and vapor recovery systems for EPA compliance, these arms are designed to withstand harsh environments while maintaining safety and efficiency.

How does SafeRack help prevent spills and environmental hazards at energy facilities?

SafeRack provides a range of spill containment solutions, including pans, berms, and wheel chocks, to capture leaks during the transfer of oil, gas, and petrochemicals. These systems help energy facilities stay compliant with EPA regulations while protecting workers and the environment from hazardous spills.

Why is grounding important in energy loading operations, and how does SafeRack help?

Grounding is critical in energy operations to prevent static discharge, which can ignite flammable vapors during the transfer of crude oil, LNG, and refined fuels. SafeRack’s grounding and bonding systems ensure a secure ground connection before product flow begins, reducing fire and explosion risks and maintaining compliance with OSHA and NFPA standards.

Can SafeRack customize safety platforms and access systems for energy facilities?

Absolutely. SafeRack offers customizable access solutions, including gangways, platforms, stairs, and fall protection systems, specifically designed for the complex needs of energy facilities. Our modular systems are built to withstand harsh environments while improving worker safety and operational efficiency.

What Customers Are Saying

★★★★

I've already purchased two of the gangways in the past and am very satisfied. The gangway is very easy to lift. Hardly any maintenance – it makes an asphalt loading rack look professional. I'd recommend these – I've already purchased two of the gangways in the past and am very satisfied. Your service with Greg Crawford was very helpful. He came down to our facility and looked at what was needed and took some measurements. He initially told me it was going to take two maybe three weeks and was right on the money.

★★★★

I would recommend my fall protection system to any other plant. There was no negative experience about any of the service I experienced from any of of the departments that I dealt with while ordering this piece of equipment. Yes, I would recommend this to other plants that have to deal with railcars.

★★★★★

I would recommend SafeRack to anyone because of their pricing, quality, responsiveness and so much more. Price was competitive. Product was easy to install and required no re-work on our part for installation. Equipment was easy to operate and maintain. I would recommend the product based on your team's technical ability, pricing, robust designs, and meeting your delivery dates. SafeRack is an extremely responsive company who delivers on the promises. I worked with David Daniel on this project. He was extremely responsive and delivered on cost, schedule, product quality. Pricing was great. I had no issue getting in touch with him. He made himself available on his day off as well. I had no surprises which, as project manager, are critical to successfully delivering projects.

Satisfied All the response from the sales team is fast and informative, however, the only downside was that we had an expediting/forwarding problem from the US, and it took a long time to ship the goods from SC. Perhaps SafeRack can provide and anticipate forwarding agents from Charleston, SC in the future.
