ALWAYS use two jacks at the front of each trailer for good stability. A single jack in the center will not prevent side-tipping. If one or both of the legs give way, a single jack in front will act as a fulcrum and not be able to overcome the tipping action.
Safe use of Jack Stands
- For proper support, use two (2) Jacks per trailer. A single Jack will not prevent side-tipping.
- The load Capacity of Jack must be equal to the gross weight of the trailer.
- If the driveway slopes, the load capacity is reduced due to side-load on the jack. Take this into account when using jacks.
- The trailer must be securely blocked (wheel chocks or dock-lock) when Stabilizing Jacks are used.
- Place Jacks on firm flat ground.
- Top plate of the jack must be in snug contact with the underside of the trailer.
- Aldon Jacks are designed to support semi-trailers. Do not use this product for any other purpose.
Always use two jacks per trailer.
Make sure the trailer is properly blocked before you install or remove stabilizing jacks. Don’t trust a cheap jack stand to hold a few tons of weight above your body or when loading trucks. Because trucks sit higher than most vehicles, jack stands need to be sturdy and secure against horizontal movement.
Position jacks near the front corners of the trailer. Make snug contact with the smooth steel underbody on each side of the kingpin.
Do not install jacks on transverse floor beams of the trailer behind the kingpin.
